Doc Rivers was so mad at son-in-law Seth Curry after 32-point performance during Nets-76ers

“I was going to go over and see my grandkids on Sunday, and now I’m rethinking that.”

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Brooklyn Nets, but it was a close call thanks to a dominant performance from Seth Curry.

Curry, the younger brother of four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry, had 32 points (11-20 FG, 7-10 3P) during the loss against Philadelphia. This was a notable performance for Curry for several reasons.

The former Duke guard married Callie Rivers, the daughter of Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers, in 2019. Curry played for Rivers from 2020-21 until last season when he was included (alongside Ben Simmons) in a blockbuster transaction for James Harden.

Curry and his wife have two children, Carter and Cash, and Doc is their paternal grandfather. The Philadelphia coach said he planned to visit his grandchildren this weekend, but after Curry’s big game, he isn’t so sure.

Here is what Rivers had to say about his sharpshooting son-in-law:

“I wanted to just smack him. I’m not kidding either. I was going to go over and see my grandkids on Sunday, and now I’m rethinking that now from that performance. He was great. He made every shot.”

After he was traded to the Nets last season, Rivers joked that he “didn’t see [expletive]” in Curry. He has since opened up about how hard it was for him to trade his daughter’s husband.

Let’s not forget that Rivers also traded his son Austin to the Wizards back in 2018. While family matters, basketball is also a business for those involved as well.
