It’s one of the best what-ifs in recent sports memory: what if LeBron James — all 6-foot-9 and 250 lbs. of him — had been a football player instead of one of the greatest the NBA has ever seen?
I went over this one nearly four years ago — if James had been a tight end, he would have been the best in the NFL. There’s both video proof of his gridiron dominance and football people in the know have said how good he would have been.
But now there’s Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who thinks the Lakers megastar would have been the greatest football player of all time. Not just the best tight end of his era or maybe the best TE of all time. The greatest PLAYER. He does add that it’s at whatever position he had played.
