BIRMINGHAM, MICH.–The Philadelphia 76ers are in a tight playoff race at the top of the Eastern Conference. They have been jockeying with three other teams for the top four seeds in the East and things have changed in the standings on a daily basis.
At the moment, the Sixers are the No. 3 seed in the East entering play on Thursday and the Toronto Raptors are the No. 6 seed. That means the Sixers would be matched up with the Raptors in Round 1 of the playoffs.
There would be potential issues with that matchup as the city of Toronto has adopted a vaccine policy. As of Jan. 15, players have to be fully vaccinated just to even enter the country of Canada. Per Tim Bontemps of ESPN, the Sixers and the Boston Celtics would not comment if their entire team is fully vaccinated which would cause issues for Games 3 and 4 of a playoff series in Canada.
The Sixers haven’t played the Raptors in Canada since Dec. 28. They have to go to Toronto on April 7, but coach Doc Rivers wouldn’t specify if his entire team was vaccinated.
“I don’t talk about it,” said Rivers at shootaround on Thursday morning. “I don’t think it’s fair to guys if all of them have it or not. You’ll figure it out eventually.”
As the Sixers prepare for the playoffs, Rivers isn’t worried about the vaccination issue as they could potentially face the Raptors.
“I don’t think it’s gonna be a concern,” Rivers said succinctly. “No.”
