The head coaching carousel in the NBA continues to move at such a fast speed. It was assumed that Tyronn Lue and Mike D’Antoni were the two finalists for the coaching job for the Philadelphia 76ers, but then Doc Rivers was made available and things changed drastically.
Once Rivers became available from the Los Angeles Clippers, the Sixers were on the phone reaching out to him and they hosted him on Wednesday for a job interview and he watched Game 1 of the NBA Finals with them. That apparently put him in the driver’s seat for the job as he is now the favorite to be the next head coach in Philadelphia.
D’Antoni is still in the mix, but that has pushed Lue out of the picture and he is now the favorite to replace Rivers with the Clippers. He was an assistant under Rivers this season for Los Angeles.

The growing belief in league circles is that Doc Rivers has swiftly supplanted Mike D'Antoni as the favorite for the Philadelphia job …

Rivers has had a lot of success in the NBA and he has a title on his resume. The Sixers are a much different roster than his Clippers teams, but the team resembles his Boston Celtics teams when they had Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. A rugged defensive team who uses their size and length to bother their opponents. Philadelphia just now needs to find the shooting they need to make it work around Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
