Doc Rivers gives health updates on Tobias Harris, Danny Green for Sixers

Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers gives an update on Tobias Harris and Danny Green.

The Philadelphia 76ers are moving forward with their team as they continue to be a bit shorthanded. While they still deal with the Ben Simmons situation, they are also beginning to deal with some issues concerning other players on the roster.

The team will be missing Tobias Harris for a little bit after he tested positive for COVID-19 and he will miss a couple of games while he awaits his return to the floor. On top of that, the Sixers will be missing Danny Green after he left Monday’s win with left hamstring tightness.

As the Sixers get set to take on the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, coach Doc Rivers gave an update on both guys starting with Green.

“I don’t know the timeline,” said Rivers on Green. “My guess is at least a couple of games, at least. Obviously, without Danny or Tobias, it is what it is. We’ll have to figure it out.”

Then, there is Harris who unfortunately got hit with the virus and he is now dealing with the effects of it.

“He’s doing okay, but not great, honestly,” said Rivers. “That’s the most I’m gonna say about it, but it hit him for sure. A lot of guys have had this and they are mad like ‘What the hell? I’m fine’, Tobias is not in that category I can tell you that.”

The Sixers went through a lot of adversity in the 2020-21 season when they were missing a lot of guys on the team due to the health and safety protocols. There was a stretch where they only have seven or eight guys available and that is something they can call upon for this situation.

“In the first half of last year, when we didn’t have Ben or Joel (Embiid), we lost,” Rivers finished. “You could tell that that was conditioned in their brains. Then, as the year went on, we got better. I thought actually the Chicago game after All-Star break was the most important game for us in the regular season because we came out, I think they both had COVID protocol, and we won that game. That kind of signaled to our guys, you’re a basketball team.”

The Sixers will take on the Bulls on to wrap things up at home before heading out on the road for two games.
