One of the main goals of the offseason for the Raiders was to revamp the offensive line. While the group did not perform poorly last season, it was an older group and they did struggle to run the ball at times.
But the Raiders invested heavily into their offensive line this offseason and could have as many as three new starters. But where does the unit rank compared to the rest of the league?
In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, they ranked all 32 offensive lines heading into the 2024 season. Coming in at No. 19 were the Raiders, who have questions at guard going into the year. Here is what the site had to say about the unit:
There is a lot to be optimistic about with the Raiders’ offensive line: Kolton Miller has developed into one of the NFL’s best left tackles, center Andre James had a breakout 2023 season (ranked ninth among centers in PFF grade) and right tackle Thayer Munford Jr. was promising in his second season on a limited workload.
The Raiders also selected Oregon offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
There is a good chance that the Raiders finish much higher than this by the end of the 2024 season. But there are still some unknowns, including how will Munford perform as a full-time starter. Plus, Powers-Johnson is making the move to guard, which isn’t his natural position. He should be able to figure it out, but it could be rough out of the gate.
The Raiders have plenty of talent and depth on the offensive line going into the 2024 season. It’s only matter of time before this is one of the better groups in the league.
