Do the Boston Celtics need a new point guard?

Could it make more sense to try and go the point Tatum route?

Do the Boston Celtics need a new point guard after most of a decade with the role never firming up under any one player over time?

On one hand, the team’s offense lacked structure, and Marcus Smart’s role as a playmaker needs to be better defined if he is going to continue as Boston’s lead floor general.

On the other hand, star forward Jayson Tatum has been seen as a capable offensive creator and could grow into a point forward type of role similar to how Luka Doncic plays with the Dallas Mavericks. Could it make more sense to try to go the Tatum route?

The hosts of the Athletic “NBA Show” sat down to talk it over.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear where they came down on the issue of who ought to be manning the point for the Celtics moving forward.
