The Arizona Cardinals announced a singular roster move on Thursday. They released fourth-year defensive lineman Michael Dogbe.
Dogbe was a seventh-round pick in 2019 out of Temple and gradually increased his role. He bounced between the roster and the practice squad in 2019 and 2020 but played in 16 games last season and all nine games so far this season.
He has had 13 total tackles this season.
The move did not come with other corresponding moves. Safety Charles Washington is expected to be activated from injured reserve this week, so the Cardinals were going to need to release somebody.
It is possible they made this move on Thursday so Dogbe could potentially clear waivers and be signed to the practice squad Friday, thus being eligible to be elevated to the active roster this weekend.
We will know tomorrow or Saturday whether this was a bit of roster manipulation or if they have decided to move on from Dogbe.
