D.J. Reader, the big prize for the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency, didn’t take long to speak out about the big event.

Reader, who spent his first four years with the Houston Texans, linked up with local reporters there to talk about the experience.

“I’m super excited, just really excited to get out there,” Reader said according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “They’ve got a good team, good things going. Hopefully, I can be one of those pieces.”

On leaving the Texans, Reader added the following: “I thought it would work out. Sometimes, things don’t work out and that’s OK. I think they’re doing their best for their organization.”

We’ve done a deeper dive on Reader already but to summarize: he’s a big get and joining an already-talented line to improve the defense as a whole.

And it sounds like he’s ready to get to work.
