With the NFL trade deadline nearing, Cleveland Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith has been a popular name, but his teammate Myles Garrett doesn’t seem too worried about it.
Garrett himself has been named in some silly trade proposals as well despite it being quite obvious he is not going to get traded. Now, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has commented on the future of Smith with the deadline less than a week away:
“I’m going to continue to play with [Za’Darius Smith], so I’m not too worried about throwing out my pleasantries and compliments now. I’ll be able to tell him at the end of the year.”
It sure sounds like Garrett is lobbying for Smith to remain in Cleveland beyond Tuesday’s deadline. With a win against the Los Angeles Chargers, sitting at 3-6 in a subpar AFC, the Browns remain in the fight believe it or not.
We’ll see how it plays out between now and Tuesday at 4:00 PM EST.
