The Boston Celtics unleashed their full-strength roster for the first time when they faced the New York Knicks on October 17. The contest was the Celtics’ fourth preseason game. Boston now has a 3-1 record throughout their preparatory contests. With Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis in the starting lineup, Al Horford made his way to the bench.
Joe Mazzulla has remained coy about how his starting five will look when the new season begins. The second-year head coach has continually stated he has six starters. However, Horford is 37-years-old. Moving the veteran to the bench for the upcoming season makes sense.
Following the Celtics win over the Knicks, the “Green With Envy” podcast discussed Mazzulla’s potential starting five. Hosts Greg Maneikis and Will Weir noted how they saw the value in Horford comprising a bench role to allow Boston’s two new stars a spot in the starting lineup.
