The University of Tennessee baseball team appeared in another preseason poll Thursday.
The Volunteers received its highest preseason ranking to date when they checked in at No. 16 in the USA TODAY Preseason Coaches Poll.
Tennessee closed out its abbreviated 2020 season ranked No. 20 in the final USA TODAY Coaches Poll. The campaign was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tennessee was 15-2 overall before Southeastern Conference play was set to begin.
UT was one of nine SEC teams to appear in this poll, and the Big Orange are ranked in four preseason polls. The Vols were last ranked during the preseason in 2007.
Tennessee is slated to begin the season at Georgia Southern in a weekend series on Feb. 19.
The Vols’ home opener is against Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Feb. 23.
