Jared Wegner had just one base hit against Louisiana Tech on Monday. The Bulldogs weren’t going to let Arkansas’ best hitter beat them.
Instead, everyone else on the Diamond Hogs roster did.
Wegner hit a three-run home run in his only true at-bat while walking five times in Arkansa’s 15-6 stomping of the Bulldogs on Sunday from Baum-Walker Stadium. The win provided the Razorbacks with a series sweep and their eighth straight win ahead of a two-game set with UNLV starting Tuesday. SEC play begins after that.
Tech actually jumped out early, 3-0, on Arkansas starter Hunter Hollan. Only one of the runs given up was earned, however, and Hollan settled in. He ultimately struck out seven while giving up just two hits and no walks. His three hit batters and one wild pitch were his biggest damage.
Meanwhile, Wegner and Co. had no trouble. The Diamond Hogs had 11 hits and walked 12 times and every Razorbacks starter scored at least one run. Peyton Stovall joined Wegner for the team lead with three RBI, but he collected all of his despite an 0-for-4 day.
Arkansas will host the Runnin’ Rebels for a two-game set this week and then begin SEC play on the weekend at home against Auburn.
