Arkansas took one away from college baseball’s national champion favorites. It wasn’t enough to keep the Diamond Hogs from falling, though.
Dave Van Horn’s Razorbacks fell three spots to No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll rankings released Monday. LSU, which took two of three from Arkansas on the weekend, stayed No. 1.
Arkansas beat the Tigers on Friday by scoring eight runs in the 10th inning. LSU bounced back by dropping 12 runs and 14 runs in the doubleheader on Saturday. The Diamond Hogs will host Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday in Fayetteville before hosting Alabama from Friday to Sunday at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Wake Forest, Florida, Vanderbilt and Virginia rounded out the top five. The SEC had another four teams ranked inside the top 25, as well. South Carolina was No. 8, Tennessee No. 9, Kentucky No. 17 and Ole Miss No. 25. Ole Miss and Tennessee will follow Alabama on the Razorbacks’ schedule on each subsequent weekends.
