The NCAA transfer portal has been fruitful for UNC athletics, and now the baseball team takes a bite after landing a transfer from USC.
After a remarkable season, the Diamond Heels are already making moves after it was announced that pitcher [autotag]Matt Keating[/autotag] will be taking the mound at the Bosch this season. The rising junior will be the perfect addition to the UNC Baseball club, bringing more heat to the bullpen.
The Nebraska native was used mainly as a closer this past season, pitching 30 innings while giving up 24 hits for 14 runs. The pitcher ended up with an ERA of 3.60, with 44 strikeouts and a 2-3 win/loss record.
I am beyond grateful for my experience @USC_Baseball and for everything they have done for me. With that being said I am excited to announce that I will be transferring to the University of North Carolina @DiamondHeels. #GoHeels pic.twitter.com/zZqa7l6co7

After a solid season, fans are expecting UNC to run it back and be among the best in the NCAA. One of the Heels’ weaknesses did come from the mound, so this addition could be the difference maker between closing out a win and letting a comeback happen.
