Diamond Heels closes door on Queens late attempt at comeback

Diamond Heels’ hot start helps blow past Queens University.

The Diamond Heels could not have asked for a better start to their week after a Tuesday night monstrous hitting performance against Queens University.

Before fans could even get to their seats, UNC already had a blowout brewing in Chapel Hill with seven runs in the first inning. The Diamond Heels followed up the hot hitting in the third inning, adding three more runs to their total to push the lead to 10-0.

As hot as the bats were for UNC, the pitching was cool under pressure, with the Queens only mustering up two hits in five innings while failing to deliver a run until the sixth inning. However, the Queens did find their groove with four combined runs during the sixth, seventh, and eighth.

The Queens were able to muster up two more runs in the ninth, but that would be all, with UNC closing the door despite the bases being loaded to win 10-6.

The win moves the Diamond Heels to 23-10 on the season, setting up a critical series against the 20-12 Miami Hurricanes.
