It took longer than expected but the moment came nonetheless: Devon Achane was selected No. 84 overall in the third round by the Miami Dolphins. The Texas A&M running back became the first Aggie to hear his name called in the 2023 NFL Draft.
In three seasons at College Station Achane tallied 2,376 rushing yards with 21 touchdowns and an average of 6.4 yards per carry. The junior running back ended his collegiate career on a high note with 11 touchdowns and 1,102 rushing yards in 2022.
With a 4.32 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine, the Dolphins are adding a versatile running back with elite speed to their backfield. The Mike McDaniel-led offense already boasts offensive weapons such as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and now they’ll add a bright young weapon to an offense that ranked 11th in scoring last season (23.4 PPG).
Huge congratulations are in order for Achane as well as the Dolphins, who are getting a hungry and talented force in the backfield. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish at the NFL level! Gig’Em!
