Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Toronto Blue Jays (55-44) host the Detroit Tigers (40-60) Friday for the 2nd game of their 4-game series at Rogers Centre. First pitch is at 7:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tigers vs. Blue Jays odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Blue Jays lead 3-1

The Tigers lost to the Blue Jays 5-3 Thursday for their 5th defeat in their last 7 games. They sit 4th in the AL Central, 13 games behind the division-leading Minnesota Twins.

The Blue Jays bounced back from a 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday by beating the Tigers in the series opener. Toronto has 10 wins in its last 12 games.

Tigers at Blue Jays projected starters

RHP Bryan Garcia vs. RHP Alek Manoah

Garcia is tabbed to make his season debut and 1st career start. He had a 1.86 WHIP, 5.7 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 through 39 1/3 IP across 39 relief appearances in 2021.

  • This will be Garcia’s 1st career start after operating out of the bullpen the last 3 seasons.
  • Has never faced the Blue Jays in his career.
  • Is 5-3 with a 6.12 ERA across 72 relief appearances in his career.

Manoah (11-4, 2.24 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 0.97 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 through 120 2/3 IP.

  • Did not record a decision as he allowed 2 runs over 6 1/3 innings in a 3-2 Blue Jays road win Aug. 28, 2021, in his only career start against the Tigers.
  • Manoah is 2-0 in his last 2 starts, allowing 2 earned runs through 13 innings with 13 strikeouts.

Tigers at Blue Jays picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Jays 6, Tigers 2

Money line

The Blue Jays are -400 on the money line, which means you’d have to bet $400 just to win $100. That’s not worth a bet in my opinion, even as likely as they are to win this game.

PASS on the money line and instead bet on the spread.

Run line/Against the spread

After being -1.5 on the run line for the series opener, the Blue Jays are now even more heavily favored at -2.5 runs. That’s no surprise with Manoah on the mound, and I do like them to take down the Tigers pretty comfortably after beating them by 2 runs Thursday.

Take the BLUE JAYS -2.5 (-115) to cover the spread at home against a pitcher who’s making his 1st career start.

Over/Under

Manoah has allowed more than 2 earned runs just twice in his last 9 starts. He’s going to keep the Tigers in check, so it’s a matter of whether the Blue Jays bullpen can shut the door.

Unless the Blue Jays blow things open with a scoring outburst, I like the UNDER 8.5 (-122) Friday.
