New York went into Memphis and took the Grizzlies to overtime in its first action of the season Wednesdays. The Knicks ultimately fell to the Griz 115-112 as 4.5-point underdogs.

I expect the Knicks to rebound well and come out on top in this Eastern Conference battle, but there just isn’t value on backing them at (-300).
Against the spread
BET KNICKS -6.5 (-117).
The Pistons home win over Orlando, which is started out down double figures early, was more about the Magic’s young core than Detroit’s dominance.
The Pistons shot worse and were outrebounded Wednesday and against a much bigger Knicks team with veterans like Randle, New York should be able to punish the Pistons’ inefficiencies defensively.
Also, G Jalen Brunson looked like the missing piece, putting up an efficient 15 points and 9 assists in his Knicks debut. The playmaking he adds coupled with the paint protection by C Mitchell Robinson should be enough to limit the Pistons in this one.
Over/Under
LEAN UNDER 219.5 (-108).
The New York offense is going to have some chemistry issues early on in the season, and that was clearly seen against Memphis. The Knicks shot just 40.4% from the field and 24.3% from deep.
New York had 18 offensive boards yet wasn’t great on the offensive glass last season. Expecting some regression there, the Knicks could struggle to score.
They did hold Memphis to 38.9% shooting, and the Pistons do not have a Morant-like talent. New York’s ability to control the paint will be a big enough factor to assume the Pistons will struggle to score.
