Another former North Carolina Tar Heel football player has been drafted on Saturday. After Asim Richards was taken by the Dallas Cowboys earlier on Day 3, it was wide receiver Antoine Green’s turn to hear his name called.
The Detroit Lions wrapped up their draft by selecting the wide receiver in the seventh round at No. 219 overall. He becomes the third UNC player to be selected joining Richards and fellow wide receiver Josh Downs who was taken in the third round by Indianapolis.
Green spent five seasons at North Carolina, catching 90 passes for 1,710 yards and 15 touchdowns. In his first three years, he was buried on the depth chart as he had to play behind Dazz Newsome, Dyami Brown and Josh Downs.

But in 2021 he had a breakout year, catching 31 passes for 612 yards and 5 touchdowns. He followed that up with a 2022 season where he caught 43 passes for 798 yards and 3 touchdowns.
He joins a Lions team that appears to be the favorites to win the NFC North this year.
