Last week, the Indianapolis Colts signed a trio of their picks from the 2020 NFL Draft. That included the second-round selection in running back Jonathan Taylor.

The explosive running back signed a four-year deal with the Colts worth $7.829 million with a $3.253 million signing bonus. Per Over The Cap, here’s a look at how the contract breaks down for the Wisconsin product.

Taylor was the third running back taken off the board behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire (No. 32) and D’Andre Swift (No. 35). He will begin his career working in a timeshare with Marlon Mack on early downs while Nyheim Hines will likely see most of the passing work.

Mack is expected to be a free agent following the 2020 season and after trading up to draft Taylor in the second round, it isn’t expected that an extension will be in the former’s future with the Colts.

The Colts are excited to see how much more explosive Taylor can make the offense. If he hits the ceiling they believe he has, they will be getting a top-notch running back for dirt cheap.
