Details of Amani Hooker’s contract extension with Titans

The full breakdown of Amani Hooker’s contract extension with the Titans.

Right before the start of the 2022 season the Tennessee Titans extended 2019 fourth-round pick and safety Amani Hooker — and now we have the full details of the contract.

According to Over the Cap, Hooker’s three-year deal is worth $30 million, with $17.15 million fully guaranteed and a $10.18 million signing bonus.

The $10 million annual average ranks 15th among safeties in the NFL and the contract carries cap charges of $9.035 million in 2023, $9.4 million in 2024 and $10.64 million in 2025.

The first out Tennessee has is in 2024, when the team can cut Hooker for a dead-cap charge of $5 million. Cutting him in 2025 will cost Tennessee $2.5 million in dead cap.

Here’s the full rundown of the deal:

Year Base Salary Prorated Bonus Per Game Roster Bonus

Guaranteed Salary

Cap Number Dead Money (if cut)
2023 $6.185M $2.5M $350K $6.185M $9.035M $13.685M
2024 $6.55M $2.5M $350K $0 $9.4M $5M
2025 $7.79M $2.5M $350K $0 $10.64M $2.5M

Hooker is the first member of the lauded 2019 draft class to sign a second contract.

Jeffery Simmons still has one more year on his rookie deal thanks to the fifth-year option, but we anticipate him signing an extension before then.

Nate Davis and David Long, the other two remaining members of the 2019 group, will hit free agency in 2023 if the Titans don’t lock them up beforehand.
