It was not a good night for the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday as they could not throw a rock in the ocean and they had a lot of issues in the second half on their way to a 109-91 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The Sixers have now lost five in a row on the road and they have fallen to 7-13 in games away from the Wells Fargo Center.
Saturday’s loss could be pointed to the fact that the Sixers shot just 9-for-37 from deep as they could not make any open looks. However, due to the fact that most of the looks were open, coach Brett Brown was happy with what he saw from his team.
“I was. I look forward to seeing the tape,” said Brown. “We needed to play fast, we needed to play free. We had some people that were down, our bench wings were down. I thought we did a pretty good job of offensive rebounding in the first half.”
That first-half effort allowed Philadelphia to build a 50-41 lead as they were able to frustrate Mavericks star Luka Doncic, but due to the cold-shooting, they were only able to build a lead of nine. The struggles led to a lot of issues in the second half as they were outscored 68-41 on their way to the loss.
“We just got into a scoring drought,” Brown continued. “I was happy with our looks. It wasn’t their man, it wasn’t their zone. I thought we had some pretty good looks, but we just had a really difficult time of making shots, converting them.”
The Sixers will now try and bounce back on Monday when they face the Indiana Pacers to conclude their brief two-game road trip. [lawrence-related id=23304,23284,23271]
