Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Chase Young probably isn’t going to be the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
But it sounds like he thinks he should be.
Ask Young? He’s the best prospect available.
“Yes, definitely,” Young said, according to ESPN’s Maria Taylor. “I know I’m the best, definitely.”
Call it an admirable mindset to have. Young also kept it simple while pointing out how he acts and gets after it once he hears his name called — no matter where it is — is even more important:
“I mean, obviously every player’s gonna try to dominate. And that’s not gonna change with me. I’m definitely gonna try to dominate on the next level as well. But just go in there, being humble, being coachable and just putting what I have on the field.
These notes come on the heels of a report stating no teams after the first three have even bothered reaching out to Young.
While Joe Burrow — not Young — figures to be the first pick, the Ohio State star was one of four names the Bengals were reportedly considering. But in Cincinnati specifically, Burrow trumps all given the need and the bonus that is the hometown connection.
