Despite a humorous photo mix up, Texas A&M LB Edgerrin Cooper is PFF’s highest graded linebacker

Texas A&M junior linebacker Edgerrin Cooper is Pro Football Focus’s highest rated linebacker, but the photo they used is former Aggie safety, Leon O’Neal.

Even though Texas A&M (4-3, 2-2 SEC) hasn’t lived up to their lofty preseason expectations, I’d advise you not to let it affect your humor because Pro Football Focus has provided all of us a brief moment of laughter on their behalf.

On Thursday, PFF College released their Top 5 highest-rated linebackers among the Power 5 conferences, as Texas A&M junior LB Edgerrin Cooper currently leads the pack with an impressive 87.5 grade. In seven games this season, Cooper leads the team in tackles (45) and sacks (6) for the Aggies’ 10th-ranked defense while already being named to ESPN, AP, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, The Sporting News, PFF, and The Athletic’s midseason All-American teams. Well done, sir.

When PFF College released their Twitter update regarding Cooper’s player rating, the photo they used caught us all by surprise, as former Aggie safety Leon O’Neal was oddly pictured in his place. For a player who hasn’t been a part of the program for two seasons, that didn’t stop O’Neal from hilariously noting the mix-up.

On a more serious note, Edgerrin Cooper doesn’t deserve this type of screw-up after the seasons he’s put together, and honestly, how difficult is it to find and further utilize one of the hundreds of photos of Cooper available in the sports media landscape? Either way, what an achievement for a player who has wholly elevated his game as a pass rusher and in coverage, and with five games remaining, the sky is truly the limit.

Congratulations, Edgerrin!
