Deshazor Everett and Cornelius Lucas give hope for Thanksgiving return

Though Washington took it easy on Tuesday, the return of both Deshazor Everett and Cornelius Lucas was something to be excited about.

Though Washington is operating on a light schedule thanks to a quick turnaround that is brought on by a Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday, there was some very positive news on the injury front on Tuesday, with both Deshazor Everett and Cornelius Lucas returning to the field for some light work.

Starting with Everett, the safety has missed some time recently with a high ankle sprain, and there wasn’t initially a timetable for his return, and many assumed that he could be out anywhere up to five or six weeks. The DB returned to the field on Tuesday and went through some light running and backpedaling in numerous drills, which gives us some hope that he might be able to lace them up on Thursday afternoon and provide a huge boost to the defense.

Lucas, on the other hand, was seen with his leg taped up through stretching drills. It is unclear if he will be ready to play on Thursday, though his return doesn’t seem as pressing for Washington, with all due respect, simply because of the performance that the offensive line put on last week against the Bengals with Morgan Moses at the LT spot, and David Sharpe at RT. Washington was graded as the top offensive line in the NFL this week, allowing just one sack and four pressures on the day.
