Deshaun Watson to miss Week 2 vs. Jets after receiving 6-game suspension

Deshaun Watson was suspended 6 games and will now miss Week 2 against the Jets

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is being suspended six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy after he was accused of sexual assault and misconduct by more than 20 women. The suspension was handed down by Judge Sue L. Robinson, and Watson will not be fined.

The Jets will visit the Browns in Week 2, but they will no longer have to face Watson. That matchup will be during the quarterback’s suspension, which will likely leave Jacoby Brissett as Cleveland’s starter in that game.

Watson did not play at all in 2021 but he was a Pro Bowler in the three years prior, leading the NFL in passing yards (4,823) in 2020. The Texans traded him to the Browns this offseason, and Cleveland proceeded to give him a five-year, $230 million contract, which is fully guaranteed.
