Deshaun Watson officially requests a trade from the Houston Texans

Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson has officially requested a trade. Many teams are expected to inquire about his services.

On Wednesday evening the Houston Texans announced they had made a decision regarding their next head coach. The organization hired David Culley, who has been with the Baltimore Ravens the past few seasons as an assistant head coach, wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. Given the uncertainty around quarterback Deshaun Watson, the hope of many was that the time Watson spent with Culley at the Pro Bowl recently would convince the quarterback to stay with the organization.

It seems that card flopped.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the quarterback has officially requested a trade from Houston. In fact, Watson submitted the request a few weeks ago, and the team hiring Culley “..has not and will not alter Watson’s thinking.”

Now incoming general manager Nick Caserio has to navigate trading one of the NFL’s most talented quarterbacks in an off-season that might see unprecedented quarterback movement. We have previously outlined some of the best trade destinations for Watson – and really almost every team in the league should be calling – but this will be one of the biggest dominos to fall in the upcoming off-season.
