While many will call it “not pretty”, at the end of the day the UCLA Bruins football team is now 1-0. The College Football season only sees 12 games, so grabbing a win was a big feather in the cap on the road. DeShaun Foster, with the win now put his name in the history book for UCLA football head coaches.
Foster is just the fifth coach in the last 75 years to win his opener with the UCLA football team. The last one to do it was Jim Mora. The others on the list for UCLA football are Red Sanders, Terry Donahue and Rick Neuheisel, per Ben Bolch of The Los Angeles Times.
Foster and his staff were forced to make adjustments at halftime. UCLA did not score in the first half of the game. While the defense was strong all game, the offense came along strong in the second half.

The head coach was holding back emotions after the game, and had this to say to the media:

Foster started his coaching career in 2013 at UCLA, where he was a SA, and then a GA. He went to Texas Tech for a season, before heading back to Westwood as the running back coach. He was in that spot from 2017-2023.
Next up for UCLA is a home game against Indiana on September 14th.
