DeSean Jackson goes unclaimed on waivers from Rams

DeSean Jackson cleared waivers and is now a free agent.

The Rams tried to find a trade partner for DeSean Jackson before Tuesday’s deadline. No one bit. They then proceeded to waive him, giving every team the chance to claim him and take on his contract. No team wanted to do that, either.

Jackson went unclaimed on waivers, making him a free agent who can sign with any team. That’s likely an ideal scenario for Jackson, giving him the opportunity to pick his next team instead of getting claimed.

Jackson played 100 offensive snaps this season, catching eight passes for 221 yards and one touchdown. His role with the Rams didn’t pan out the way he or the team expected, finding it difficult to get on the field due to the depth Los Angeles already had at wide receiver with Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson.

The Rams will now be on the hook for any remaining guaranteed money on Jackson’s contract since no team claimed him and took on his current deal.
