Derrick White out for the Boston Celtics vs. the Brooklyn Nets

It is only the first regular season game missed by the Colorado alum since joining the team.

Fans of the Boston Celtics excited to see the Stock Exchange (a nickname bestowed on Celtics guards Jrue Holiday and Derrick White by White’s father Richard for their stifling defense generating steals and blocks) will have to wait until the Celtics play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday at soonest. The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reports that the younger White is out vs. the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday evening “for personal reasons, likely the birth of his second child.”

Something of an ironman since joining Boston’s roster in 2022, it will be only the second game White has missed, the last being for the birth of his first child, Hendrix during the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals (h/t the Athletic’s Jay King).

It is only the first regular season game missed by the Colorado alum since joining the team.

Boston could in theory use the absence as an opportunity to give veteran big man Al Horford an opportunity to play the game as a starter, but with the Nets being without big man Nick Claxton due to injury, it seems as likely they could experiment with some smaller lineups as well.
