Derrick Henry’s goal-line fumble didn’t hurt the Titans, but may have crushed your fantasy team

That sound you hear is Henry’s fantasy managers throwing their hands up in frustration.

The Tennessee Titans have been one of the NFL’s better teams in recent years, specifically because they can run their offense through Derrick Henry. Pro football’s premier bowling ball/freight train of a running back has been someone Mike Vrabel’s Tennessee squad has successfully leaned on — regardless of almost any circumstance.

In a rematch of last year’s AFC Divisional Round game with the Cincinnati Bengals, a trademark Henry gashed the Bengals on a patient 75-yard screen. But for once, Henry couldn’t finish the play, fumbling near the goal line.

Fortunately for the Titans, promising rookie Treylon Burks was there to ensure his team still scored a touchdown. Any fantasy football managers of Henry (of which there are assuredly many) probably weren’t feeling so lucky:

Good for Burks to be Johnny-on-the-spot and save six points for the Titans (while also scoring his first career touchdown!). It’s not often you see a running back fortuitously fumble right into the path of one of his teammates, and it worked out here in Nashville.

As for fantasy football managers, with the postseason on the horizon in many leagues, those lost points right out of Henry’s hands could prove pivotal in lots of matchups. If you’re someone who manages Henry in fantasy — you’re in my thoughts. I hope that one play from one of the NFL’s biggest stars wasn’t so consequential.
