Hey, remember that thing that Derrick Henry did last year, when he basically didn’t do much yardage-wise up until a Thursday night matchup against the Jaguars and then put up 238 yards and four touchdowns? And then how he totaled 170 yards the next week and 84 in Week 16?
Of course you do. You might have either been burned by him (by an opposing owner or you benched him because he was hit-or-miss before that Week 14 game) or you owned him and won a title because he was so good down the stretch.
Now? Henry’s doing it again.
At least this year, Henry has been more consistent before this late-season breakout. He’s gone under 63 yards just twice and has scored in all but three of his games.
But in his past three games? He’s been a beast, totaling 149 yards or more and scoring five times. The late-season Derrick Henry breakout is happening AGAIN!
And maybe you should file this away for future fantasy seasons: Henry is the guy you want to trade for in the middle of the season.
Seriously! Look at these stats:
A fun one for #BodyBlows twitter… Since entering the league in 2016, Henry leads all backs in rushing yards (1,111) and rushing touchdowns (13) in December games.

This year, he might have been helped by a change at quarterback, so if the Titans retain the services of Ryan Tannehill after this year (he’s a free agent who might get paid handsomely this offseason), it could benefit Henry over a full season.
Derrick Henry in the six games started by Marcus Mariota: 113 carries for 416 yards (3.7 yards per carry), 4 TDs.
Derrick Henry in the six games started by Ryan Tannehill: 119 carries for 724 yards (6.1 yards per carry), 7 TDs.— Michael David Smith (@MichaelDavSmith) December 2, 2019
I’d still say late-season Henry is the player you want:
November-December Derrick Henry is the greatest football player of all-time.
Coupled with competent QB play by Ryan Tannehill, he makes the Titans a scary team to look out for down the stretch.
