The Raiders kick off their mandatory minicamp today and practices will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So what will we all be watching this week? None other than the Derek Carr-Davante Adams connection.
In a recent article by ESPN, they listed the biggest storylines to watch ahead of minicamps around the NFL. For the Raiders, that was none other than the two former Fresno State teammates. Here is what senior writer Paul Gutierrez had to say about these two entering practice:
“The Derek Carr-Davante Adams connection is worth watching. The two lit up Mountain West Conference scoreboards with Fresno State in 2013, and after Adams was acquired this offseason in a blockbuster trade from the Packers, the reunion is on.
The installation of coach Josh McDaniels’ offense will be in its infancy, but it will be paramount to see how far along the renewed chemistry is between Carr and Adams.”
Both Carr and Adams have been present during the team’s OTA practices over the last two weeks, but minicamp practices are usually a bit more intense with more one-on-one action. That means we should see some live reps from both of these players this week.
While it’s certainly going to take these two some time to get back on the same page, look for them to start the year hot given how well they each performed last season.
Carr to Adams should be one of the NFL’s most prolific connections this season. It will be fascinating to see just how long it takes for them to get there.
