The Los Angeles Chargers have long been a franchise that seemingly always finds a way to gets in its own way late in close games and lose in stunning fashion.
Well, that happened again Sunday night and this time their loss cost them their season.
Here’s how it all went down – the Raiders and Chargers just needed to tie on Sunday night and both teams would go to the playoffs. With 38 seconds left in OT they found themselves in that exact scenario. The Raiders had the ball and it looked like they were setting up to just run out the clock when the Chargers called a timeout. The Raiders picked up a first down on the next play and then kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired.
It was an incredible finish that didn’t need to end that way for the Chargers. Raiders QB Derek Carr was asked by NBC’s Michelle Tafoya if that time out changed things and he said, “It definitely did, obviously.”
