Despite a frustrating 21-18 loss to Rutgers on Friday, two Washington Huskies were recognized by Pro Football Focus for their individual performances in their first road game of the season.
Wide receiver Denzel Boston and defensive tackle Jayvon Parker were named to the Pro Football Focus Big Ten Team of the Week, determined by PFF’s highest-graded players at each position.
Boston led the Huskies in receiving for a second consecutive week, hauling in 6 receptions for 125 yards and both of Washington’s touchdowns on Friday. He took a short Will Rogers pass 51 yards in the third quarter to generate some momentum for the Huskies, then won a 12-yard fade in the fourth quarter as Washington attempted to come back.
Parker was credited with three tackles by PFF, all three of which were categorized as “stops” – plays that constitute failure for the opposing offense. The junior also had three pressures of Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis before tearing his Achilles, as Jedd Fisch informed the media on Monday.
The two Huskies joined Rutgers left tackle Hollin Pierce, who shut Washington out on the edge, on the Team of the Week.
