Denver Broncos pick up option on Von Miller

The Broncos decided to pick up the option on Von Miller

The Denver Broncos beat the clock and picked up the option on star linebacker Von Miller.

Faced with a Tuesday deadline, the Broncos made the call and have decided to keep their star for 2021 … at least.

Per Broncoswire:

Denver tried to restructure Miller’s contract before picking up the option but the talks “went nowhere,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. So the team picked up the option, ensuring that Miller won’t hit free agency.

The outside linebacker will now earn a base salary of $17.5 million this season with a cap hit of $22.225 million, per Spotrac.com.

Miller was the second overall pick out of Texas A&M in 2011. He has earned eight Pro Bowl nods, seven All-Pro honors and a Super Bowl MVP award. Miller’s 106 career sacks rank No. 1 in franchise history.
