There’s a good chance the New Orleans Saints end up on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” documentary series later this year. They’re one of four teams that can be forced into the role, unless another squad volunteers for it; the Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Washington Commanders also meet the eligibility requirements.
When NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill asked about possibility of the Saints being forced into HBO’s summer feature, Allen responded, “I wouldn’t like it. I just want to focus on our football team and getting better, and any distractions are exactly that, distractions that ultimately keep you from reaching your goal.”
But when will we know which team is going to be put in front of cameras? There aren’t many consistencies. The series starts at training camp and covers a squad throughout the preseason, so it’ll have to happen before the Saints regroup for work in late July. In 2022, the chosen team was announced early on March 28. A year earlier, the Dallas Cowboys were revealed as the pick on July 2. We’re getting closer to the later part of that range, so expect a decision in the next month, if not sooner.
