Tis the season for former college and pro athletes to make their moves in the coaching ranks.
Earlier this week, one former Michigan player in defensive end Mario Ojemudia left his job as a financial advisor to accept a graduate assistant position with Miami of Ohio. Several others who have once worn the winged helmet have shuffled around in recent months, with Desmond Morgan heading to Indiana State, Roy Roundtree leaving Ann Arbor for GVSU and many others.
But one former Michigan standout isn’t going to the college ranks to move up the coaching ladder.
With the Wolverines, Denard Robinson was one of the most electrifying players in all of college football. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an offensive weapon in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but his career in the pro ranks was short lived. He started coaching in 2019, taking a job as an offensive analyst at Jacksonville University.
Now, according to ESPN NFL insider Field Yates, he’s returning to the Jaguars as an offensive quality control coach.
The Jaguars have hired Denard Robinson as an offensive quality control coach, per source. Robinson was a fifth-round pick for Jacksonville in 2013 after his time at Michigan as a QB and one of the best players in the country.

At Michigan, Robinson was 427 for 747 for 6,250 yards passing with 49 touchdowns to 39 interceptions. As a runner, he carried the ball 723 times for 4,495 yards and 42 more touchdowns.
He’ll join a Jaguars team that has two former Wolverines on the roster in Jarrod Wilson and Brandon Watson, both former undrafted free agents who made the 53-man roster.
