Likely to be eligible to play in 2021, Bowman’s addition adds to a steadily improving running backs room for Mullen and position coach Greg Knox.
Only adding one high school running back in the 2019 cycle, Nay’Quan Wright, and originally striking out at the position in 2020, recruiting at the tailback position was once a target of criticism from Gator fans.
Now, looking ahead to 2021, the position looks to be one of the team’s strong suits, as Bowman figures to join Malik Davis, Lorenzo Lingard and Dameon Pierce in the rotation, presenting the offense with a near-ideal mix of speed, power and pass-catching ability.
Listed at 5-foot-10-inches and 190 pounds and having registered a 4.47 40-yard dash as a high school junior, Bowman’s build profiles well for the rigors of carrying the football against Southeastern Conference defenses.
Fortunately, redshirt senior quarterback Kyle Trask is playing at a Heisman Trophy level through the first two games of 2020, having tossed 10 touchdown passes, but, with a new signal-caller, presumably Emory Jones or Anthony Richardson, taking over next fall, it makes sense to think the running backs will carry a larger load.
He took a different route than most Florida fans would have preferred, but, with Bowman in the fold, the stable looks up for the task.
