DeMar DeRozan is the elder statesman on the Chicago Bulls.
The 32-year-old veteran finds himself on a new team coming into his 13th season. The Bulls are coming off a disappointing 2020-21 campaign in which they missed the playoffs but that didn’t scare DeRozan away from signing a three-year, $84 million deal in the offseason.
He believes in this team, and most of all, believes in Chicago’s All-Star Zach LaVine.
“The talent that Zach LaVine has in this league is incredible,” DeRozan told The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “In my career, I haven’t played with a talent at that wing position like Zach before. He’s incredible…He’s one of a kind.”
DeRozan adds a veteran presence to the Bulls that can not only share his experience but help lead this team back to the playoffs. DeRozan, and Lonzo Ball, will be able to make plays and get LaVine arguably the most open, best shots in his career.
“I want to put everything I’ve been through in my career, share that with him, and also win together.”
