Football is over. Or is it?
On Tuesday, the new United States Football League (USLF) kicked off its draft festivities. The new eight-team league features a 10-game regular season schedule with all of the games being played in Birmingham, Alabama.
The draft is a bit wonky and each round has specified position groups. Teams aren’t eligible to trade draft choices, either. All in all, it is quite interesting and is a nice change from the NFL and other leagues we have seen.
And in the draft, one former Colorado Buffaloes player heard his name called. The Tampa Bay Bandits selected Delrick Abrams Jr. with the first pick of the cornerbacks round.

There were a few other former Buffs in the rumored player pool also, although a confirmed list wasn’t made available beforehand.
Abrams played two seasons at Colorado from 2018-19 after coming to Boulder via the JUCO ranks. He is now the first former Buff to hear his name called in the USFL Draft.

Out of college, Abrams went undrafted in the NFL but signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 for a short stint. Now, Abrams gets another shot to impress NFL scouts or perhaps scouts from other leagues if he plays well with the Bandits.
A lot of former NFL players are hoping for a second chance in the USFL, and they have a golden opportunity to showcase their talents before NFL training camps begin.
Congratulations to Delrick Abrams Jr.
