Deion Sanders uses NIL for good by helping Colorado players’ children

Colorado players who have children received a massive surprise from Coach Prime

The handful of Colorado football players who are also parents received a potentially life-changing surprise over the weekend.

In partnership with Colorado name, image and likeness (NIL) collective 5430 Alliance and Elevations Credit Union, CU head coach Deion Sanders helped open savings accounts for the children of his players. Each account is starting out with $2,121 — a nod to Sanders’ No. 21 jersey he wore during his NFL career — and those players were encouraged to make small contributions moving forward.

“A child is not a mistake,” Sanders told his players with children over the weekend (h/t Thee Pregame Show). “A child is an opportunity to mature you, grow you, advance you and give you some skills. Y’all know how I am about fathering. I would not hire a coach unless he’s a great father. I don’t hire a coach that’s a deadbeat, I don’t hire a coach that’s not taking care of his responsibilities. I would never hire a man that he says he’s going to look after y’all but he won’t look after his. That don’t make sense to me.”

After Coach Prime shared his thoughts on fatherhood, an Elevations spokesperson went into detail about the new savings accounts.
