The latest string of reports linking Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders to the Dallas Cowboys’ vacant head coaching job have many in Boulder worried about Coach Prime’s future with the Buffs.
According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Coach Prime has spoken with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about the position, which became available following Mike McCarthy’s departure. Schultz reported Monday that Sanders is a “top candidate” for the Cowboys’ head job, although Jones will interview other candidates.
Late Monday evening, Coach Prime commented on his interest in the Cowboys via ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Sanders told ESPN. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
Coach Prime led the Buffs to a 9-4 record in his second season at Colorado.
