Pac-12 After Dark has become a must-see for many people across the country. Almost every time, the games are exciting, even though they don’t end until midnight in California, making East Coast watchers essentially unable to tune in.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, whose Buffs played an 8 p.m. game earlier this season against Colorado State, is not at all happy with having another late kickoff time this week vs. Stanford.
“Who makes these 8 o’clock games? Dumbest thing ever. Stupidest thing ever invented in life. Who wants to stay up until 8 o’clock for a darn game?” Sanders said on his weekly radio show. “What about the East Coast — do they even care about ratings? Is anyone watching it? What are we supposed to do with the kids all day until 8 o’clock? What are we supposed to do in the hotel?”
Coach Prime also added, “What are we supposed to do with the kids all day until 8 o’clock? What are we supposed to do?”
It’s a valid point, and waiting around until 8 p.m. isn’t easy. Then again, the Buffs have played a couple of early 10 a.m. games on Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff.”
Well, it’s a good thing the Buffs are headed to the Big 12 Conference in 2024, although late-night kickoffs will still remain a possibility.
