Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders told 247Sports’ Carl Reed Jr. that Travis Hunter will miss three weeks due to an injury he sustained during the Buffs’ win over Colorado State on Saturday.
Per Undisputed’s Skip Bayless, Hunter suffered a lacerated liver.
His injury occurred in the first quarter when Colorado State safety Henry Blackburn delivered a late hit on the defenseless Hunter following an incomplete pass. Blackburn was flagged with an unnecessary roughness.
The good news here is that three weeks is a relatively short period of time considering the nature of the injury. However, the Buffs’ next two games come against two of the Pac-12’s best: Oregon and USC.
As Brian Howell of BuffZone suggested, Hunter’s injury could open an opportunity for five-star true freshman Cormani McClain to get his first college snaps. Ole Miss transfer Kyndrich Breedlove will likely get the start against Oregon, though.
Coach Deion Sanders tells me that Travis Hunter will be out for 3 weeks.
