It’s looking like Travis Hunter will make his return far sooner than expected.
Colorado’s two-way star returned to practice earlier this week and on Tuesday, head coach Deion Sanders gave an encouraging response when asked about Hunter’s status for Friday’s game against Stanford.
“There’s a tremendous chance he can play,” Sanders said. “It goes by how he looks, how he performs in practice, how his wind is. He has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability. I want him to always be a tremendous asset. Travis, he came to me yesterday morning saying, ‘What more can I do to help us get to the point that we need to get to?’ I love the team aspect of Travis, 100%. But I hope he can play.”
Hunter, who suffered a lacerated liver early in Colorado’s Sept. 16 game against Colorado State, will most likely be a game-time decision for the 8 p.m. MT kickoff on Friday.
During his press conference last week, Coach Prime shared that he’d like to keep Hunter sidelined through the bye week, so things have changed quickly in a matter of days.
