Head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes will welcome the Utah Utes to Folsom Field this weekend. Ahead of Saturday’s contest, Coach Prime shared his respect and praise for longtime head coach Kyle Whittingham’s Utah program.
“He is one of the pillars of the Big 12, (and) of course he was like that with the Pac-12,” Sanders said of Whittingham. “He’s a legend, a true legend. What he’s done consistently at Utah is unbelievable.”
After being picked first in the preseason Big 12 media poll, the Utes have underperformed this fall while dealing with a barrage of injuries, including one to starting quarterback Cam Rising. Utah sits at 4-5 overall and is only 1-5 in conference play, but most of the Utes’ losses have been close. They also lead the Big 12 in scoring defense at 17.1 points allowed per game.
“They haven’t quit,” Sanders said. “They’re still tough, aggressive and stout defensively. You cannot take this team lightly, I don’t care what their record is… Thank God it’s at home and it’s early. I like it like that.”
Kickoff between the Buffs and Utes is set for 10 a.m. MT (Fox) on Saturday.
