Very little went right for the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday in Kansas City, and the injury bug made no exception. Starting right tackle Phillip Houston went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter against the Kansas Jayhawks, and head coach Deion Sanders relayed that it may be something serious.
“We’re hoping he didn’t tear an ACL,” Sanders said postgame. “That’s what they’re thinking right now. I’m hoping that’s not the case. Thank God we have tremendous depth on the offensive line.”
Houston has started every game at right tackle for the Buffs since Week 3, fitting in comfortably at the position after the offensive line faced a rocky start early in the season. Indiana transfer Kahlil Benson replaced the junior at right tackle for the remainder of Saturday’s 37-21 defeat.
Losing Houston, a Florida International transfer, would be substantial as Colorado is still fighting for a Big 12 championship game berth. The prognosis of Houston’s ailment appears bleak, but the injury hasn’t yet been confirmed.
