Deion Sanders comments on Heisman buzz developing in Boulder

Deion Sanders: “We got a couple of guys that should be front runner for the Heisman right now.”

The Colorado Buffaloes kicked off the season in style with a 45-42 victory against the TCU Horned Frogs on the road.

Shedeur Sanders shined as did freshman Dylan Edwards. And, of course, Travis Hunter was everywhere on the field for the new-look Buffs on Saturday.

After the game, head coach Deion Sanders spoke about how talented this group is and admitted the Buffs should have some Heisman Trophy frontrunners after this shocking upset. Specifically, he called out Hunter in a massive way (h/t Brian Howell of BuffZone):

“Travis is Him, like the young folks say,” Coach Prime said. “Travis is it. I always promote all my kids. I really think we got a couple of guys that should be front runners for the Heisman right now. That’s how I feel and I want to promote my kids at all costs.”

Shedeur Sanders threw for 510 yards with four scores and zero interceptions, Edwards had four total touchdowns and Hunter had 11 catches for 119 yards and an interception.

It’s early, but Shedeur Sanders and Hunter, at least, should be in the early Heisman conversation after this huge game.
